Hydrochloric (Muriatic) Acid, also referred to as HCL is used for lowering pH in Pool Water. Maintaining proper water chemistry in your pool is essential for health and safety. One of the most common pool chemicals is hydrochloric acid, often known as muriatic acid. It is a very strong acid used to lower the pH of the water. It can also be used as an acid wash for cleaning an empty pool.
- After skin contact: Flush contaminated skin with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention if symptoms occur. Wash clothing before re-use. Clean shoes thoroughly before re-use.
- After eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove any contact lenses. Get medical attention if irritation
occurs. - After inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Keep person warm and at rest. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or ifrespiratoryarrest occurs, provide artificial respiration oroxygen by trained personnel.
- After swallowing: If material has been swallowed and theexposed person is onscious, give small quantities of water to drink. Seek medical advice immediately and show thecontainer or label. Do NOT induce vomiting. Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Wash out mouth with water. Remove dentures if any.
